Obligation to Register Clinical Trials

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) believes that it is important to adopt and nurture an extensive and publicly available database of clinical trials. According to ICMJE, a clinical trial is a research project that assigns human subjects to medical interventions to analyse the cause-and-effect relationship between the intervention and their respective health outcome. Medical interventions may include drugs, surgical procedures, apparatuses, behavioural conducts, process-of-care changes, etc.

The authors are recommended by ICMJE to add their trial registration number and respective details at the end of the abstract (wherever is applicable) while submitting and eventually publishing the journals.
